Reports To: Sales and Field Development
Assignment Type: full-time
This diverse roll will support Gowan’s work in field development and sales giving the candidate experience in two segments of the Gowan business in Canada:
o Represent Gowan at customer and industry events
o Independently work with retail managers to match Gowan products with farmers for a mutually beneficial outcome
o Evaluate performance of Gowan products in customer fields
o Collaborate with multiple full time Gowan employees to complete a wide variety tasks prioritized to time of season
o Organize weekly tasks individually to maximize efficiency and results
o Educate/re-educate growers and retails on the best management practices use of Gowan products
o Evaluate or generate new product opportunities suitable for the region
o Establish or grow Gowan’s reputation in the territory region
o Gather intelligence such as changes to cropping systems and emerging pests to help Gowan build a presence as company dedicated to agriculture
o Plan and execute local marketing activities with select retail customers
o Support field trial development work including trial installation, maintenance and data collection. Trial work to include both small plot and larger scale strip trial design.
o May require travel outside of Manitoba depending on field trial locations.
The ideal candidate for this position will have an advanced understanding in the crop protection industry in Manitoba cropping systems – cereals, oilseeds, soybeans, and corn. The successful candidate will exhibit strong inter-personal skills and be equally skilled at communicating with fellow colleagues as well as marketing/sales people and customers. He or she will be a self-starter who operates with integrity, able to take initiative and conduct him or herself in a professional manner with little direct supervision. The successful candidate will be a strong team player who is keen on being challenged daily, and expected to take on unfamiliar tasks individually. He or she must thrive in the role of being the lead technical expert supporting field development and sales needs in their assigned region.
